Fifth Avenue Modeling Agency, owned and operated by Kevin Strakan, was started in 1989, as a division of Fifth Avenue Boutique. The modeling agency began as a clever marketing tool for the boutique but eventually became the focus of the business. Kevin closed the boutique in 1993 and continued building the modeling agency.

Fifth Avenue Cosmetics, a division of the modeling agency, grew into another very popular venture. Kevin realized that most over-the-counter make-up products did not meet the needs of Bahamian women, as they were not suited for this climate. Furthermore, his work with international models meant he had to have a quality product that was natural and easy to work with.

Kevin created his own line of cosmetics and soon had international modeling agencies coming to The Bahamas for photo shoots, requesting his services.

As his products and his talents as a make-up artist grew in popularity Kevin was offered positions at the Radisson Cable Beach Hotel and Sandals. He also worked with MTV, during their summer production in 1990 as a make-up artist.

As an ambitious entrepreneur, Kevin also developed the Fifth Avenue School of Modeling. Up and coming young women can be trained on how to succeed in the modeling business. The school also offers etiquette training for those not interested in modeling but who want to improve their image.

Kevin developed his own training manual called Fifth Avenue - Vital Professional in the Work Place. This booklet contains information on Basic Walk, Walk Techniques, Health & Nutrition, Photo Posing, Wardrobe Assessment, Cosmetics and Skin Care, Hair Care, Personal Hygiene Mind Mapping, Self Promotion and Image Research.

Some of the young ladies that Kevin has seen rise to success have been Natascha Pinder, who won the title of Ms. Bahamas in 1987 and Mika Knowles, who won in 1993. He has also produced the Ms. Discovery Day Beauty Pageant for several years, and over a five year period raised money through fashion shows for the Drug Action Service.
